Unconscious Bias
Research by leading institutions has shown unconscious bias to be a key obstacle to greater inclusion and diversity.
As humans we all rely on our biases to make decisions. The challenge is when decisions based on an unconscious preference towards a particular characteristic, style or way of working (or mix of these) negatively impact on our people, clients or stakeholders.
At Inclusion Partners we support leaders and organisations to develop a more conscious approach to decision making by working more mindfully with the biases that affect talent development, recruitment and team work.
We do this through highly engaging, challenging, research based programmes that provide a unique and safe experience for participants.
To ensure sustainable changes in behaviour, we adopt a blended approach that includes the following elements:
Training and coaching to build awareness about relevant individual and systemic biases and their impacts
Unconscious bias assessments and coaching to support individual recognition and acceptance of biases (often the hardest milestone to reach)
Stakeholder engagement and strategic planning for systemic change, ensuring a prioritised plan for which biases to tackle and bias-limiting strategies to implement
Training, coaching and communications to support the application of best practices to reduce the impact of bias in decision making.
